Graham King - biography
Education:
BSc Hons in Botany (University of Manchester)
PhD in Botany (University of London)
Research interests/background
Professor Graham King has over 35 years post-doctoral research and research management experience, with a widely recognized international profile in crop plant genetics, genomics and related data management. He has made significant contributions to establishing genomic and experimental genetic resources, using these to resolve a wide range of phenotypic trait loci in horticultural and arable crops. He has led a range of international and national consortia, and worked closely with public and private sector breeders throughout his career. Current research interests are focused on mechanisms of plant epigenetics underlie interactions between plant genome and environment (GxE), recombination, and increasing the ease with which crop data may be integrated and navigated.
From 2012 to 2018 Graham was Director of Southern Cross Plant Science (SCPS) at Southern Cross University, where he is now a part-time Research Professor. With over 140 refereed publications, he is an Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham (UK) and a Research Associate of Crops For the Future in Malaysia. Gaining his Ph.D from the University of London, he has held positions at Horticulture Research International and Rothamsted Research, and was a professor at the University of Warwick
